How to Level Up Fast in The Lost Front

Farm XP from kills, captures, and heals so Medic, Marksman, and Drone Operator unlock sooner.

How to Level Up Fast

Ranking up in The Lost Front is the difference between being stuck on default Assault forever and unlocking the classes that actually change fights. This guide explains where XP comes from, how to route Assault into Medic and Marksman, when VIP is worth buying, how objective play beats fringe farming, and how to grind toward Rank 16 Drone Operator without wasting hours. Later ranks also open Machine Gunner for players who want sustained lane control—community reports put that unlock around levels 24–26, but treat that range as unverified until Type Productions publishes a hard number.

The game launched June 17, 2025, is still in active development, and permanently bans cheaters. Level the fair way, then bookmark Updates and the Type Productions Discord (https://discord.gg/w4y6e2pvJZ) when unlock thresholds shift. If you are brand new, skim Getting Started first so map basics and the free AKS-74 feel natural before you optimize XP.

Where XP actually comes from

Most progression comes from kills plus captures. Fragger-only play still levels you, but contested checkpoints stack XP events in a shorter clock: you fight denser packs, flip ownership, and stay near the action instead of hunting lonely flanks. Capture discipline from Capture Checkpoints is therefore a leveling tool, not only a win tool.

Secondary XP helpers:

  • Medic healing — once you hit level 5, bandages and support work add meaningful progress while you keep teammates alive on points. Full class notes live on the Medic Class Guide.
  • Match completion and objective time — dying on the edge of the map for vanity K/D slows unlocks.
  • VIP +100% XP — optional Robux boost covered on Game Passes. It doubles the value of every productive fight; it does not replace objective habits.

Ignore redeem-code fantasies. As of September 2026 there are no official codes. Spend attention on captures, not code lists.

Assault → Medic path (levels 1–5)

You spawn as Assault. Treat the first five levels as fundamentals school:

  1. Learn stop-to-shoot accuracy and green teammate outlines so you never waste ammo on friendlies (there is no friendly fire, but outline reading still speeds decision-making).
  2. Push trenches with at least one ally toward soft A/B/C points instead of solo ruin diving.
  3. Buy a sensible early rifle when credits allow—see Weapons and Weapon Tier List—but do not bankrupt yourself on rockets while you are still learning lanes.
  4. Recheck Controls until reload, crouch, sprint cancel, and mag loot are automatic.

Hitting Medic at level 5 is the first real power spike for team XP. A living squad holds points longer, which means more capture ticks and fewer wipe resets. Swap to Medic in matches where your team already has aggressive Assault players, then bounce back to Assault when you need personal frags. The Class Tier List helps you decide when support outvalues another rifle body.

Marksman bridge (levels 5–10)

Marksman unlocks at level 10. Use the Medic window to keep playing objectives while you practice longer peeks across ruins and tall grass. Do not camp the absolute backline for ten matches hoping for free XP—empty lanes starve both kills and captures. Instead:

  • Hold overwatch on approaches into B while Assault clears trenches.
  • Rotate when your team flips a point so you stay near XP events.
  • Study map angles on the Map & Battlefield Guide so every Marksman life contributes pressure.

Marksman is a bridge, not a permanent main for most grinders. Once you understand sightlines, return to Assault/Medic hybrids when you need raw capture pace toward Rank 16.

Rank 16 drone grind

Drone Operator unlocks at level 16. This is the unlock most players plan around because FPV drones rewrite mid-fight tempo. Efficient grind rules:

  • Queue with capture intent every match—see Capture Checkpoints.
  • Prefer Medic when your stack lacks healing; prefer Assault when your stack lacks entry fraggers.
  • Learn trench routes now; drone pilots who never walked the map crash into familiar walls later. Cross-train with the Map & Battlefield Guide.
  • Warm up infantry aim with stop-to-shoot discipline; the same composure helps under FPV pressure.
  • Read Drone Operator the day you hit 16 so your first drones are not free deaths.

VIP buyers should time the pass for this stretch if they buy at all—doubling XP from level ~10 to 16 is higher value than buying VIP at level 1 and then taking a week off. Free-to-play players simply play more objective-heavy nights; the unlock is reachable without Robux.

Machine Gunner and later ranks

After drones, keep leveling. Community showcases frequently mention Machine Gunner unlocking somewhere around levels 24–26. That range is not officially confirmed in the same crisp way as Medic 5 / Marksman 10 / Drone Operator 16, so treat it as a planning estimate. When you unlock it, use it for lane denial on open trench gaps and ruin corridors while Assault and Medic finish captures.

Later ranks also pair with attachment experimentation after the mega-update—see Attachments & New Weapons for AKS-74U, GL-06, and modular builds once those systems are live for you.

Objective play beats fringe farming

XP myths that waste time:

  • Edge camping for one kill per minute — low event density.
  • Ignoring B because it is contested — contested B is where XP and match impact overlap.
  • Skipping heals on Medic — you throw away a free progression lever.
  • Buying every explosive before rifle comfort — credits help gunfights that create kills; rockets are situational.

Better loop each life: spawn toward owned ground, approach under cover, clear, stand on the point, leave a guard, rotate. That loop feeds kills, captures, and heals in one path. Pair it with Best Loadouts so your credit spend matches the class you are grinding.

VIP and other passes for leveling

From Game Passes:

  • VIP (599 Robux) — +100% XP plus credit kick and HDM; best pure leveling purchase.
  • American Guns (399 Robux) — M16A1 / M1911 identity; helps fights, not XP math directly.
  • No Team Limit (199 Robux) — full stacks queue together, which often means better capture coordination and therefore faster natural XP.

None of these replace map sense. A VIP player who never stands on checkpoints still climbs slower than a free player who lives on B.

Practical session plan

  1. Warm up with Controls for five minutes.
  2. Play two matches as Assault focused only on captures.
  3. If level 5+, play one Medic match prioritizing heals near the active point (Medic).
  4. Review deaths: bad angle, late rotate, or dry ammo?
  5. Adjust guns via Weapons and Best Loadouts.
  6. Recheck Updates weekly for XP or unlock changes.

Level with intent: every life should touch a kill, a capture, or a heal. That is how Assault becomes Medic, Medic becomes Marksman, and Rank 16 stops feeling impossible.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for The Lost Front players.

What gives the most XP in The Lost Front?

Kills and checkpoint captures are the main sources. Medic healing also helps after level 5. Objective-heavy matches beat fringe camping.

Should I buy VIP just to level faster?

VIP’s +100% XP is the best Robux leveling tool, especially on the climb to Rank 16. It is optional—capture discipline still matters more.

What is the class unlock order while leveling?

Assault is default, Medic at level 5, Marksman at 10, Drone Operator at 16. Machine Gunner is community-reported around levels 24–26 with some uncertainty.

Is Medic better than Assault for grinding XP?

Medic adds heal XP and keeps capture stacks alive. Assault is better when your team needs entry frags. Swap based on squad gaps.

How do I unlock Drone Operator faster?

Play captures every match, use Medic when heals are missing, consider VIP for the level 10–16 stretch, and learn map routes before Rank 16.

Do codes help you level up?

No. As of September 2026 there are no official redeem codes. Focus on kills, captures, and heals instead.
